He purifies my personal life

Have you ever encountered an aroma that immediately made you want evacuate, wrinkle your noise, gag, cough, empty the stomach, etc? From personal experience, an aroma hit my nose hairs that made them want to give up their day job. Enter in Purification Essential oil by Young Living. (Read about it here) I began diffusing this blend and immediately my nose hairs wanted their job back. So how does this apply to purifying my personal life? Well read on my friend.

Today the sermon (Watch the service here) topic brought to my mind this oil blend. The scripture for today's sermon was Colossians 3:1-17. Philip started off speaking about the changing of the seasons and we change our clothes. During warmer months we wear clothes that help keep our body cooler, and now that it is cooler months we are changing our wardrobe to clothes that help retain warmth. The Oxford dictionary defines purify as "remove contaminates from". We need to clean from within but the only way our inner light and shine on the outside is to ensure we put on the new clothes. 

Open your Bible to Colossians 3:1-11

Remove the old clothing

1) inappropriate thoughts vs 2-3

2) immoral acts vs 3-5

3) idolatrous desires vs 5-6

4) improper anger vs 8

5) impure speech vs 9-10

6) intolerant behavoir vs 11

 I find it very interesting that these are very common characteristics of humans. These actions are very selfish yet are very accepting in our society. These behaviors' often demonstrate the unhappiness and sad life one leads. 

To lead a more fuller, joyful, and peaceful life let's see how to change our clothes let's read Colossians 3:12-17

Put on new clothes 

1) Consideration compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience vs 12

2) Forbearance and Forgiveness vs 13 (please think about the letter Philemon. Onesimus, a slave, became a christian and was commanded to go back to make right his wrong. He was changed from the inside and therefor his behavior changed on the outside. The letter of Philemon and Colossians have a relationship)

3) love vs 14

These new clothes go against our human nature. But yet if we do this we will become happier and lead a fuller life. We become purified within. Just like purification can clean the air and we relax we can be purified within.
